Privacy Policy

Your privacy, by design.

Effective July 8, 2026 · OhSht, operated as an independent project by its founder in Reno, Nevada

OhSht was built on a simple idea: you shouldn't have to hand over your personal information just to find a restroom. Privacy isn't a checkbox here — it's a feature. This policy explains, plainly, what we collect, what we don't, and why.

What we don't collect

To use OhSht, you don't create an account, and we don't ask for:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • A password
  • A username or profile
  • Your phone number
  • Payment or billing information
  • Social login (Google, Apple, Facebook, etc.)

There's no sign-up screen because there's nothing to sign up for.

What we do use

Optional location access. If you allow it, OhSht uses your device's location to show restrooms near you. This permission is optional — you can search manually without it — and it's used in the moment, to answer your query, not stored alongside any identity because there isn't one to attach it to.

Anonymous reviews and ratings. When you leave a review or rating, it's published without a name or profile attached. We don't ask who you are before, during, or after.

Community-submitted location information. Details about restrooms (hours, access, features) that you or others contribute become part of the shared map data.

Standard hosting and infrastructure logs. Like any online service, the infrastructure that runs OhSht keeps basic technical logs (things like IP address, browser type, and timestamps) for as long as needed to operate the service securely and reliably — for example, to detect abuse or fix outages. These logs are not used to build a profile of you and are not sold or shared for advertising.

What we never do

  • We don't sell your data. There's very little of it, and none of it is for sale.
  • We don't build advertising profiles.
  • We don't require an account to access any core feature.
  • We don't track you across other apps or websites.

Cookies and local storage

OhSht may store small amounts of information directly on your device (such as a saved search area or a display preference) so the app works smoothly between visits. This stays on your device and isn't used to identify or track you elsewhere.

Children's privacy

OhSht is intended for use by people age 13 and older. Because we don't collect accounts or personal profiles, we have no practical way to knowingly gather personal information from children — and we don't try to.

A note on where things stand

OhSht is currently operated as an independent project by its solo founder, in public beta, with no support team and no office. This policy reflects how the product actually works today, and it will be updated honestly as that changes — not before.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date above and, where practical, note what changed. Continued use of OhSht after an update means you accept the revised policy.
